Estate Fayre and NGS Open Gardens – Sunday 21st May 2017
It’s not long until the Estate Fayre and NGS Open Gardens which is taking place on Sunday 21st May 2017 11am to 4pm.
Visitors will be welcome to wander through the gardens, speak to the Estate gardener and visit the private Penmyarth Church. The Fayre will feature exhibits of works for sale from people who live and work on the Estate as well as external artisans and demonstrations.
Entry is £6.50, 12 and under free.
This year ITV’s Ruth Wignall is officially opening the event at 12 noon.
The event opens at 11am and there be talks and demonstrations:
11.30am – Lynne Allbutt, first woman to run barefoot across Wales, gardener and author of Barefoot and Before
12.00pm – Ruth Wignall officially opens the event
12.30pm – Andrew Price from ITV’s Coast & Country joins us for a talk on Dryad Bushcrafting and foraging
1.00pm Terry Walton, author of The Allotment Almanac and BBC 2’s Allotment man
1.30pm Bagpipes demonstration
2.00pm Out to Learn Willow demonstration
2.30pm Emma from Love Lily will be demonstrating how to hand tie a bouquet

Access will be via the main gates to the Estate on the A40.
Glanusk Funride – Sunday 28th May 2017
The Glanusk Funride is taking place on Sunday 28th May 2017 and we are looking forward to welcoming riders to the Estate for this popular and family friendly event.
Gates open at 9.30am, the Funride starts at 10am with the last horses leaving at 2pm, the course closes at 5pm.
There will be 3 routes, short, medium and longer and a lead rein option. There is an open field start and a quiet start too as well as some optional jumps.
Catering will be provided by Sugarloaf Catering undercover in the Arched Barns with tea and coffee, sweets and treats served up by our band of volunteers in the community Cafe area complete with newspapers and carrots kindly donated by Cashells for your trusty steed. There will also be a refreshment station on the course.
There will be a number of photographers on the course and we are delighted to welcome Events Through A Lens who some of you may have seen at Badminton Horse Trials.
Sian Smith Animal Portraiture will be here on the day showcasing her work and has kindly offered a 10% reduction on the standard fee for a 2 hour shoot and 10% to our charity The Noah’s Ark Appeal – The Children’s Hospital for Wales.
This year we are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Clear Round and Pony Rides provided by and supporting Triley Fields Equestrian Centre and their Pony Club.
For those who follow @Glanusk on Twitter we are delighted that @EquineHour will be at the #GlanuskFunRide. And we will be on twitter on Sunday night between 8pm and 9pm with up-to-date chats about the day.
Every rider will get a rosette for completing the ride and there will also be a rosette for a Triley clear round.
Laragh Cresswell will be bringing some second hand kit too. And do cheer along The Rotary Club who have very kindly offered to support us and you will see them on the route.

Please print and complete the Rider Agreement form and bring on the day, forms will be available on the day too, but if you fill them in in advance, your check in will be quicker. There are medics and a vet on site for the day.

Host an event at Glanusk
In 2016 we had some great events including the Glanusk Estate Garden Fayre and NGS Open Gardens and an outdoor garden performance of David Walliams’ ‘Ratburger’ and an evening of Family Camping.
Over 850 people joined us for the Gwent Memory Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society on Sunday 9th October and £36,000 has been raised so far.
